All about the Historic Monaco Grand Prix Group Tour 6-13 May 2020.

The bi-annual Historic Monaco Grand Prix returns in 2020. This prestigious weekend of historic racing takes place 2 weeks before the Formula 1 event using exactly the same circuit, which still follows 80% of the original layout.

This event will be the destination for the 2020 FTT Continental group tour. By travelling with us you will experience some wonderful roads in rural France on your way to the sparkling Cote d'Azur. Some you may have heard of, others are hidden gems we have been using for years.

Choosing to stay in Cap d'Ail gives you the full Monaco experience; after pulling back the curtains in the morning and taking in the view of the harbour from your private balcony you can walk to the circuit.

The hotel in central Nice is ideally located in a quiet area. In less than 10 minutes you will be able to walk to the train station for the short journey to Monaco and it's a similar distance to the lovely Old Town for dinner in the evening.

Unusually for the area both hotels have their own secure underground car park. Booking with us guarantees you a parking space for the weekend.

This tour was a huge success in 2018. To make it even better in 2020 and to add some variety for our regular customers we have changed a couple of the hotels and the tour will follow a slightly different route.

If you would prefer a shorter tour by flying to Nice or plan to make your own way through France we are also offering 3 night packages to this event.

Staying in Cap d'Ail

This luxurious 4* hotel is an oasis of calm on the Monaco/France border and is within walking distance of the circuit. The only thing separating the hotel’s terrace from the yachts in the harbour is the pedestrian walkway.

The whole hotel has recently been fully refurbished to an exceptional standard.

The restaurant is superb or there are a wide variety to choose from nearby suitable for all budgets.

  • Deluxe sea view room with balcony
  • 2 people in 1 car sharing a double or twin room £1329.00 per person *limited availability*
  • 1 person in 1 car in a single room £2041.00 *limited availability*
  • Mountain view room
  • 2 people in 1 car sharing a double or twin room £1281.00 per person
  • 1 person in 1 car in a single room £1965.00

Staying in Nice

An excellent 4* hotel which despite being centrally located is in a very quiet part of Nice. The train station for the short journey to Monaco and the Old Town for dinner in the evening are both within walking distance.

Due to the traffic congestion and lack of parking we strongly recommend you use the train between Nice and Monaco which takes approximately 20 minutes.

  • 2 people in 1 car sharing a double or twin room £1060.00 per person
  • 1 person in 1 car in a single room £1513.00

Grandstand seats

In 2020 all seats will be numbered for the first time.

In our opinion you must spend some time spectating in Casino Square simply because the view of the historic heart of Monaco has hardly changed since the very first race was held here in 1929. We recommend this stand for the practice and qualifying sessions on Saturday. It is small and always sells out quickly so booking early is essential.

Wider views of the circuit are available in the harbour area so our suggestions for the racing on Sunday are stands K (overlooking the harbour), L (looking down the pit straight) and T (opposite the pit lane). Large screens broadcasting the action from around the circuit can be seen from all of these stands.
